The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) was set up in1974 in order to support
people with Spinal Cord injuries.
Injuries to the spinal cord can be caused by all sorts of accidents and diseases.
Many, but not all, injuries result in paralysis and/or loss of various normal normal functions.
Such injuries can turn lives upside down.
With the right information, support and encouragement, people with spinal injuries can enjoy
full and independent lives. The Spinal Injuries Association ( SIA) is a user led organisation which
supports people with spinal injury from the time of injury and for the rest of their lives.
At the heart of the services provided by the Spinal Injuries Association is their Advice Line
(details at top of the page) and a range of information fact sheets that can be ordered by post or
downloaded from their web site.
