Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common disabling neurological
condition affecting young adults. Around 85,000 people in the UK
have MS. It is most commonly diagnosed between the ages of 20
and 40 but it can be earlier or later.
It can affect everyone differently, but some groups may have similar experiences and needs. The MS
Society provides a wealth of information and support for anybody who is diagnosed with the condition
Helpline
The MS Society's National Helpline is there to help anyone affected by MS, whether you are
newly diagnosed, have lived with the condition for many years, or are a carer, relation or friend.
The Helpline provides information and emotional support for anyone affected by MS, and it is often a
good first point of contact. It has paid staff and trained volunteers, who together take around 15,000 calls
a year..
