14th July 2007: Connect2u is delighted to welcome
the Rt. Hon. Lord Ashley of Stoke
as its first official FRIEND.
Lord Ashley was first elected as Labour MP for Stoke on Trent South in 1966. He became totally deaf
following a minor operation in 1967 but went on to become a powerful spokesman for deaf and hard of
hearing people. At the 1992 General Election, he retired from the House of Commons and soon after
was made a Life Peer, Baron Ashley of Stoke. Lord Ashley continues to work tirelessly for people with
disabilities and has secured significant legislative reform affecting millions of people with disabilities.

25th October 2007: Connect2u is delighted to announce that
Humfrey Malins, CBE, MP for Woking
has joined our group of FRIENDS.
Humfrey Malins was elected as Conservative MP for Woking in 1997.
He has been an Acting Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate since 1991 (now a Deputy District Judge),
and a Recorder of the Crown Court from 1996 onwards.
Mr Malins writes:
“I believe (Connect2u) to be of great worth. There is a vast amount of information on the site to inform
and help a great many people and I would be delighted to become a friend of Connect2u”.
