It is a known fact that elderly people who have pets are
happier and healthier. They have someone to talk to
and get out of bed for and to care for, feed and groom.
But their worry is what will happen to their pet if they
have to go into hospital or nursing home or die. If the
pet dies they will not have another one.
Just as Averil Jarvis was starting her work to develop the charity, her
beloved Corgi, Cinnamon, died in her 17th year. It seemed appropriate
to name the Trust in her memory.

Because of these fears, Averil Jarvis did a study on this problem and based on the result,
founded the Cinnamon Trust.
The Trust will care for your pet if you and your pet are registered with them. An umbrella for
life. For example, volunteers will walk your dog, help with the cat, vet visits etc. An umbrella.
If you go into hospital they will do their best to find a volunteer foster home for your pet. When
you come out, the pet is returned, a volunteer will support you both. e.g. Dog walks,
cat grooming.
If you have to go into a Nursing Home which does not accept pets, or if you pass away, then
the Trust will take your pet under their wing and give them a home for life in either of their two
Sanctuaries or with a long term foster home. The pet is loved and cared for as if it is still your
Own.
