The British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (BRPS) was founded in 1975. It is a self
help group which helps its members to live with and overcome their visual problems.
They aim to bring relief by stimulating research into the causes and treatment of RP.
They help to fund research projects. Money is raised mainly through its branches.
The BRPS provides a support service offering help and advice on all matters
relating to living with a visual impairment. The helpline can be contacted by phone
or e-mail.
The Helpline offers:-
1. Confidential support for those newly diagnosed and their families
2. A team of volunteers who either have, or have family with Retinitis Pigmentosa
3. A signpost service to information about benefits, education and employment etc
4. Access to Language Line for those callers where English is their second language
5. A chance to discuss your feelings (anonymously if you wish)
6. They try to respond to emails within 48 hours. Strictest confidence maintained
7. The service cannot provide diagnoses or counselling,.
