Autochair is a family business which has been designing,
manufacturing and fitting vehicle adaptations since 1983.
They make a wide range of vehicle adaptations to suit most
levels of disability. They make equipment for lifting people,
wheelchairs and scooters into and onto vehicles. They also make swivel seats and a variety of
driving aids such as hand controls.
Autochair also makes Service Call, a device for disabled people to summon assistance when out and
about (e.g. In Petrol Stations). To read about Service Call, follow this link: [ Service Call ]
Managing Director and founder of Autochair is David Walker, who has over 30 years experience of
engineering and vehicle adaptations. As a paraplegic since 1975, he has the advantage of personal
knowledge and insight into what is practical for people with mobility impairments. He both uses and
approves Autochair products.
Autochair uses quality engineering to produce a range of products that are easy to use, simple to fit,
very reliable and can be installed in most cars. They offer free and without obligation demonstrations and
advice on any lifting problem and they have agents throughout the UK. They will also provide information
on organisations that may be approached for funding for their products (e.g. Access to Work, Motability,
MS society, Spinal Injuries Association, etc.)
